
According to the latest polls, most voters believe that the federal government should give priority to Australia’s relationship with the United States, not its relationship with China. According to an exclusive survey conducted by News Limited and Newspoll, 56% of voters believe that their relationship with the US is higher than that of China.
The other two and a half voters believe that a good relationship with China is a priority. Newspoll polls show that 46% of Labour Party supporters strongly prefer US-Australian relations to Australia-China relations. Among the voters who support the coalition party, 70% believe that the US-Australia relationship has priority. Prime Minister Morrison has just paid a state visit to the United States and met with US President Trump.
In the United States, Morrison also publicly called for China to become a developed country rather than a developing country. At present, China is Australia’s largest trading partner, but the United States is Australia’s largest source of foreign direct investment.
