This marathon debate extended until two o’clock in the morning today, and then voted to pass. The Victorian Parliament passed a law extending the state of emergency in Victoria for six months. Victorian Andrews also made compromises after consulting with independent lawmakers in order to allow the extension of the emergency law to be passed in Parliament. The Andrews government’s initial proposal was to extend the emergency law for 12 months.
Melbourne’s fourth phase of lockdown restrictions will expire on September 13.
