Health Minister Jenny Mikakos has announced the extension of the state of emergency in Victoria until 11:59 pm on June 21.
“The reason we do this is to ensure that the chief health officer retains the power to effectively respond to the outbreak,” she said. “This move can also enable the implementation of new regulations on how many people can gather tomorrow that will take effect.”
“These regulations will be published on the website of our Department of Health later today. Victorians need to understand that the epidemic is not over, and we have not won.”
