Prime Minister Morrison said that the current environmental reporting approval process is too complicated and requires comprehensive reforms. He said that it is necessary to streamline the environmental reporting approval process and make room for the country’s economic development.
When he attended the meeting of the Australian Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday night, he told the audience that the decision was made. He said that the current environmental report approval process is too cumbersome and delayed the launch of many large projects. Mr. Morrison told the Australian Business Council that environmental approvals are delaying large projects.
He said that technology is now a thousand miles away. Like other fields, digital technology offers us the opportunity to make these approval processes faster and easier. Therefore, the federal government has taken the first step to prepare for a digital environmental assessment and approval system nationwide to shorten the approval time. He said that the current environmental reporting approval process for a major project lasted for three and a half years. After the reform, we hope to shorten the process to a period of 6 to 18 months.
