With only one month left in the election, the Liberal Party and the Green Party have yet to announce the candidates for a growing constituency in the southeastern part of Mexico.

As of now, voters in the Bruce Constituency can only choose between the Labour Party, Palmer’s Australian Solidarity Party and the Australian People’s Party.

Group nomination forms for political parties must be submitted to the Australian Election Commission by noon on Sunday, and individual registration can be up to 48 hours.

At the heart of this constituency is Dandenong, whose population will grow by 36% over the next decade.

The Labor Party’s Julian Hill’s last election was a 4% superior party.
ABC’s electoral expert Antony Green expects Hill’s advantage to increase by 10% because of the rezoning of the constituency boundary.

Paul Williams, a political science expert at Griffith University, said that it’s not normal until the voting day and the big party have not nominated candidates.

“It seems that the Alliance Party has not noticed this constituency. We all know that the Alliance Party is short of money, they will not spend too much money on Bruce.” He said, “The Green Party is not active, I am amazed.”

Williams said he expects the two parties to make nominations at the last minute, in order to get public funds, which is allocated to get more than 4% of the preferred votes. It is reported that the Liberal Party will let Shanice Hoang play, but has not officially announced that Hoang is not listed on the party’s website. Liberal Party MP Michael Sukkar told the radio that he would be a candidate for the deadline. Green Party leader Richard Di Natale said the party will announce every constituency candidate, including Bruce, by Thursday.
