
The federal government will provide Aus$25,000 in cash subsidies to Australians through the A$688 million HomeBuilder (building subsidy) stimulus plan to build new houses or renovate existing houses, thereby spawning A$15 billion in economic activity to support over 1 million jobs in the construction industry. This six-month construction support plan is designed to help carpenters, plumbers, bricklayers, builders, suppliers, and electricians gain new business.
Who is eligible to apply:
A $25,000 subsidy will be paid directly to qualified self-occupiers (not limited to first home buyers) for the construction of new homes or major renovation of existing homes
Owners must apply in their personal capacity, not in the name of a company or trust fund
Applicants must be Australian citizens over 18 years of age
Applicants must meet the income criteria-the annual income of individuals does not exceed 125,000 Australian dollars, couples do not exceed 200,000 Australian dollars
Eligible individuals must sign a contract between June 4 and December 31 to receive a subsidy of $25,000. The project must start within three months from the date of signing
Newly constructed housing must be the applicant’s primary residence and must not exceed AUD 750,000 (including land)
Existing homes undergoing large-scale renovation must also be the applicant’s main residence, and the value of the renovation must be between A$150,000 and A$750,000; the value of the house itself before renovation must not exceed A$1.5 million.
Construction must be carried out by a licensed construction contractor. The builder must not have a kinship relationship with the owner.
Renovation works can be a combination of different construction projects (kitchen, bathroom, etc.).
Not applicable:
The renovation project must be designed to improve the convenience, safety and livability of the housing activities. A subsidy of $25,000 is forbidden for the construction of swimming pools, tennis courts, outdoor spas and sauna areas, freestanding sheds or garages.
The applicant must be an owner-occupied owner, and the subsidy of A$25,000 cannot be used for investment housing.
