The 11 billion-dollar Melbourne subway tunnel project recently opened the underground passage between Parkville and South Yarral, which marks the completion of 50% of the work of this major project.

A total of more than 364,000 cubic meters of gravel soil were excavated by excavators. Another excavator is currently completing the excavation of another tunnel extending from Kensington to North Melbourne and then to Parkville.

The two tunnels are 9 kilometers long, and the deepest point is 30 meters above the ground, passing through the Yarra River area.

In response, Victorian Transport Infrastructure Minister Jacinta Allan said: “The Melbourne Metro Tunnel Project is a major project that promotes the economy and creates jobs. We will continue to rebuild in the coming months and years.”
