Daniel Andrews told reporters yesterday that the average number of COVID-19 cases in Melbourne has fallen in 14 days and restrictions will be relaxed on Sunday.

He hinted that the blockade restrictions could be relaxed as early as Sunday because the average daily number of new additions reached the lowest in three months. Melbourne’s 14-day average has dropped to 34.4, which means that the city is expected to relax restrictions before the scheduled date in late October.

From September 28, the Melbourne metropolis must reach an average daily number of new additions between 30 and 50 in the first two weeks to trigger relaxation of the lockdown measures. But the governor said that the key depends on the number of new cases and the impact of scientific models.
