The landmark residence reborn from the ruins of the restaurant fire finally found a buyer after it was first listed in 2019.

The four-bedroom house at 71 Victoria Street, Bakery Hill (Ballarat) was carefully restored by a local builder and supplier. Experts said: “A couple bought this mansion after falling in love with the character of this villa. They just like its originality and story.”

The property is priced at A$1.005 million. The residence named Longwood was originally built in 1865 and later used as the site of a clinic, barber shop, art gallery and two restaurants.

The renovation project restores the original building appearance and modern living standards, and is equipped with a new kitchen, living room and bedroom. Decorative woodwork, hardwood floors, fireplaces and the appearance of the original three-story brick are other obvious period features.
