The leaders of the political circles pay tribute to the 89-year-old former Prime Minister Hawke who died on Thursday. Prime Minister Morrison said that Hawke is “one of Australia’s greatest prime ministers and must be the greatest prime minister of the Labour Party.” “His achievements will also be praised in the future, but the Australians remember the most people.” Morrison told reporters. “He is committed to public utilities and makes Australia stronger. He has great wisdom. He has unparalleled enthusiasm and he has courage.” Opposition leader Shawton said: “The State and the Labour Party are mourning tonight.”
“We lost one of our most loved sons.” “Hock loves Australia, Australia loves Hawke. His legacy will always be passed on. Hawke changed Australia and made it better.” “He unites people. He unites Australia, modernizes our economy, transforms our society and protects our environment.” “Hock and Keating and their government have modernized the Australian economy, paving the way for an unprecedented period of freedom from recession, economic and employment growth.”
Hawke’s wife, Blanche d’Alpuget, confirmed in a statement that Hawke died peacefully at home on Thursday. Ms. d’Alpuget will hold a private funeral with their children Sue, Stephen, Rosslyn and the stepchild Louis, as well as their grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in Sydney for the 23rd Prime Minister of Australia in the coming weeks. Hawke died two days before the federal election. In December last year, he predicted that he might not be able to get election days because of his health.
