ACMI (Australia’s national museum of screen culture) revealed the digital plan as part of its $40 million redevelopment plan in Melbourne’s Federation Square (Federation Square).

After closing the construction project in May last year, the Australian Mobile Imaging Centre will reopen in 2021.

Although ACMI’s physical site continues to be built, ACMI Director and CEO Katrina Sedgwick said the museum has reopened online.

The transformation includes the addition of a multi-platform model, which indicates that it will take tourists outside the Melbourne area, the center of the venue. Sedgwick said the museum’s digital infrastructure will make it one of the “most digital museums” in the world.
